A few years ago, you may have seen me running around imitating one of Anne Rice's characters:

This year (actually, last weekend) I got something that served a purpose:

Nike MaxSight

I've worn them so far on an overcast day, a bright as hell sunny day, in-doors w/ dim lighting (hehe), and at night while driving. I have light sensitivity issues w/ my eyes, especially driving at nite w/ people's headlights bothering me most of the time. With these on, it made everyone's lights look like their amber running lights. I'm sure these contacts aren't made for this purpose, but it worked for me with no noticeable sacrifice in regular nighttime visibility.

I'll mainly be wearing them during the day tho. Driving, riding, or at the beach.
No more getting weird tan lines on the face or sweat and sunscreen on my Maui Jims.

It's like one.million degreeeees...
It's like one.billion degreeeeeeeessss..
It's like one.trillion degreeeeeeeeeeeeeeeesssss..!
From the hot parking lot, to the sand that is not so coooooooooool...

Please get this song out of my head.

Take the time to read this. Srsly.

Hope this entry finds everyone is good health and spirits at the beginning of this year, 2006. Just thought I'd stand up on my Lever 2000 soap box for a second...

Back in October last, under severe peer (and by peer I mean pseudo-midlife) pressure (and by pressure I mean crisis), I got myself an 'M' endorsement on my license and picked me up one of these bad boys.

Its been all well and good (so far), and being a new rider, I made it a point to edumacate myself and practice before trying out for Super Stuntaz R' Us. It was during this edumacation that I realized how very unaware everyday drivers are to us motorcyclists (YEEEAAHHHH BABY! IM A BIKER! HowYaLoike'MeNoW!?!?)...
Yea, bikes are inherently more dangerous than riding a car, but do most people realize how badly CAR DRIVERS (affectionately known as 'cagers') exacerbate (different from masturbate, but you might do that badly too) this problem? Not checking blind spots, TALKING ON YOUR CELL PHONE, not paying attention, etc etc all contribute to making yourself a danger to others. You might get into a fender bender with another car...

But there's no such things as fender benders w/ bikes.

...

Think about this for a sec. Is it that important to try beating a light, cutting someone off, having a conversation on the phone or skipping a quick shoulder check to get to a place all of one minute faster..!?! On most days, you can do these things with no consequence. But what about that ONE time? That ONE time where your space and another collides? Is it worth the consequence of wrecking your car? Harming yourself? KILLING another?

Think about that the next time you're driving.

We think that idiots who drive drunk are the sole evils of automobiles, but all these other little things can be equally deadly. Is it really worth that high price? Can you pay it?

Think about that the next time you're driving.

And if you need something more visceral to help you see, check this out.

Another interesting day in the 'hood... Hopefully no one is hurt in this one.

Just last month, a mother killed her 6 yr-old son with an overdose of pills and a pillow. Happened two buildings down from me.

Yea, long time no update, and it sucks to update w/ crappy news.

Please help in anyway you can. Sounds cliche, but every little bit helps to make a difference.

Amazon has setup an easy way to donate money straight to Red Cross disaster relief.
100% of the money you donate will go directly to the relief aid in South Asia. You can donate through the Red Cross site also, but its a little bit more confusing, asking for a specific fund to donate to. Amazon's the easiest. Click here.

Red Cross helped my family and I back in 2000 when our house burned down. A contribution by you may not seem like much from this end, but speaking from experience, the money that goes towards helping the people who are in an actual crisis goes a very, VERY long way.
So again, please help.

...

Yea, I know I haven't updated in a long time. Figured this was a good reason as any to update again. Things have been great tho! Can't really complain.
JUST PLEASE DONATE!

The beach has been my home every fair-weathered weekend since mid-May.
I love it. The lack of updates has been due to conservation of energies during the work week toward blasting full power into, thru, over, under, and around the weekends.
So far, it's been hyperspeed insane.

Jones Beach in Long Island was the destination this past Saturday. Although it took THREE.F'ING.HOURS. to get there due to traffic and getting lost, the beach and the ensuing fun made it all worthwhile.

Got the opportunity to be involved w/ a photoshoot for Alkeme, an up and coming clothing line brought to you by two of LJ's finest.

--=[1984?]=--

Sound familiar....?

I'm going to do something I don't normally do.

For as long as I can remember, politics had never been of real interest to me.
I had always envisioned it (like most people my age) as a bunch of old white guys sitting around talking foreign policies and budgets and government programs and taking pictures of each other shaking hands w/ diplomats from lands far, far away.

But that ended a little less than 3 years ago when a wake up call came in the form of hijacked planes and broken lives.

Without getting too deep into my views and thoughts about how everything was handled and what I think of the war and how I feel our current administration is handling this whole situation, let me just make a general, non-lecture sounding, non-argumentative statement.

We need a new Commander-in-Chief.

Never have I been so dumbfounded and disbelieving that someone at so high a position could be so misleading... and sometimes dishonest... to the people he was "elected" (and I say elected with a slight roll of the eyes) to lead and serve.

It's amazing how the media is even admitting now that they were also "one-sided" in their reporting and how their information to the public may have caused un-warranted beliefs and inaccurate stories. Just goes to show, don't always believe what the mass media tell you. Do your own research. Take everything with a grain of salt.
And sometimes, take it with a whole salt shakers worth.

There's a great editorial in the NYTimes by columnist Paul Krugman that I think everyone should read.
Link: Click here.
I STRONGLY SUGGEST EVERYONE READ IT.
If you're not registered, click here to read the article )

I won't go into any Conspiracy Theories or other kinds of suggestive possibilities but if you're interested, do some research.
The possibilities are downright scary.
Scary for the US, and the World.

******

This coming election year, make sure you vote.
I'm sure only a handful of you on my friends list voted in the 2000 election.
But come this time around and vote.
Vote for no more lies, no more fear mongering, no more deception.
Forget all the BS about Abercrombie offending Asians w/ their T-shirts or people getting upset by a non-significant COMEDIC article in Details magazine.
You want to do something real? You want to make your political voice heard? Are you serious about making a real difference in our society?
Stop crying about little things like this and come out to make a real difference.

Don't just jump on the "political awareness" bandwaggon when it seems cool to do.
Lead that fvcking bandwaggon when it actually matters.
GO VOTE.

Rain has been forecasted since last Friday.
I have not yet seen any rain.

Rain is still forecasted today and for the rest of this week. As of this writing, the skies are completely blue and cloudless. If not for these insulated windows and the fabricated atmospheric environment of this office building, I would imagine it to be nice and warm outside, with a slight late spring breeze.

Also, allergies suck tremendous amounts of walrus ass.
I've gone thru more boxes of kleenex than during the whole 'masturbation is great' phase of my pubesence.

Ok. I kid.
I don't masturbate. I was just trying to be funny.

I am currently anticipating devouring this banana I have left over from lunch.
I guess mixing masturbation talk and eating bananas in the same entry probably makes for a few raised eyebrows.
Two consecutive words ending in -ing make a sentence sound funny.

But anyway, we're doin' a party for her tomorrow nite and she's been emailing me names of her friends to put on the guestlist. The place is relatively strict so I hope her corny friends don't get in told her to make sure she lets me know all the people who are going...

Pisceans have been described as the Eternal Dreamers of the Zodiac.

Because they are the last sign in the zodiac they are considered to be very highly evolved. The logic is that if Aries being the first sign is the "baby" –spiritually speaking- of the Zodiac, then Pisces is the sign in which the maximum spiritual development can be seen. Pisceans are selfless, spiritual folks who are very focused on their inner journey... Unable to tackle head long the rational world, which seems to be at odds with their sensitive, intuitive and dreamy nature, Pisceans find great solace in escapism.
So basically, we're airheads. We don' need no steeeenkin' drugs! We zone out by nature.

So anyway. )
